SWITCHBOARD - THE NATIONAL LGBTQIA+ SUPPORT LINE

A VERY SPECIAL CHARITY

This Pride Month, we are thrilled to shine a spotlight on and support a charity that we greatly admire – Switchboard, the national LGBTQIA+ support line that has been lending a compassionate ear to the UK’s LGBTQIA+ community since 1974.

Wholeheartedly run by trained volunteers, this remarkable charity offers a safe, confidential space for those navigating the complexities of sexuality, gender identity, mental health and more. Whether you're coming out, questioning your identity, or simply in need of a warm voice in the dark, Switchboard is there to listen, always without judgment.

Their commitment to inclusivity, compassion, and understanding has made Switchboard a lifeline for many over the decades, and a powerful symbol of the importance of community support and visibility during Pride and beyond.

HOW THEY HAVE HELPED THE LGBTQIA+ COMMUNITY

In 2024 alone, Switchboard’s dedicated volunteers offered friendly, non-judgmental support to over 14,000 individuals. They also modernised their volunteer model, welcoming 164 new recruits to provide help via phone, chat and email. The result? A 12% rise in phone support and a 19% boost in chat coverage, proof that compassion scales beautifully.

For over half a century, Switchboard has offered calm, steady words at the most uncertain of times. Their mission for 2025? To make sure even more people know they’re not alone.

We’ll also be making our own donation, and we invite our guests to do the same. Because raising a glass feels even better when it’s for something that matters.
