ART & EXHIBITIONS
ABSTRACT EROTIC: LOUISE BOURGEOIS, EVA HESSE, ALICE ADAMS, The Cortauld Gallery | Until September 14th
If you seek out three sculptors this month, make them Louise Bourgeois, Eva Hesse, and Alice Adams. Bourgeois’s looming spiders mix menace with tenderness. Hesse’s fragile forms in rope and latex still vibrate with urgency. And Adams transforms everyday materials into unexpected landscapes. Together, they’ll shift how you see sculpture forever.
GRAYSON PERRY: DELUSIONS OF GRANDEUR, The Wallace Collection | Until October 26th
Grayson Perry’s Delusions of Grandeur is a joyfully irreverent exploration of ego, identity and the theatre of power. Ceramics, tapestries and sculptures brim with wit, mischief and the occasional raised eyebrow. Gender, class and cultural tropes are dressed up and sent delightfully askew, all in Perry’s unmistakable voice. It’s playful, provocative and just the right amount of outrageous.
THE GENESIS EXHIBITION: DO HO SUH: WALK THE HOUSE
, Tate Modern | Until October 26th
Now showing at Tate Modern’s Blavatnik Building, Do Ho Suh’s exhibition explores the spaces we live in and the memories we leave behind. Using translucent fabric, he recreates homes, doorways and corridors with meticulous detail. These ghost-like structures speak to ideas of identity, displacement and belonging. The effect is calm, uncanny and quietly powerful.
THEATRE
THE GREAT GATSBY, London Coliseum | Until September 7th
The Great Gatsby musical brings roaring twenties glamour to the London Coliseum in a swirl of sequins, secrets and champagne. With Jamie Muscato as Gatsby and Frances Mayli McCann as Daisy, the show dazzles with big choreography, bold sets and a Broadway-polished score. Be sure not to miss a heady summer spectacle in one of London’s grandest theatres.
TINA - THE TINA TURNER MUSICAL, Aldwych Theatre | Until September 13th
If you haven’t yet, now’s the moment. Tina – The Tina Turner Musical enters its final month in the West End, bringing Tina’s extraordinary rise from small-town beginnings to global superstardom to the stage. Set to a soundtrack of her greatest hits, the show honours not just her voice, but the resilience that ultimately shaped her strength and spirit.
INTER ALIA, National Theatre | Until September 13th
Inter Alia at the National Theatre is a sharp, emotionally charged portrait of justice, motherhood and the quiet cost of holding it all together. Rosamund Pike is compelling as Jessica Parks, a judge navigating the shifting ground between legal authority and personal crisis. The play moves between courtroom, kitchen and karaoke bar, exploring, inter alia, the unseen labour of women under pressure.
