September brings a change of pace to Soho, and plenty to look forward to. Beefbar at Dear Jackie opens its doors, Live at Flute with Johnnie Walker begins a new run of midweek live music, and across London the cultural calendar is back in full swing with theatre, jazz, design, fashion and the final nights of the Proms. THEATRE
DISNEY’S HERCULES | Theatre Royal Drury Lane
Greek mythology gets a suitably theatrical Disney makeover in Hercules, complete with big choreography, Alan Menken’s music and plenty of Mount Olympus drama. The London production finishes its run at the start of the month. Ends 5 September.
CYRANO DE BERGERAC | Noël Coward Theatre
Adrian Lester leads this acclaimed revival of Edmond Rostand’s classic, bringing plenty of wit, romance and heartbreak to the West End. Following a sold-out run with the RSC, its London season is a short one, making September the final chance to catch it. Ends 5 September.
HARRY POTTER AND THE CURSED CHILD | Palace Theatre
The original two-part production of Harry Potter and the Cursed Child takes its final bow this September after ten years in the West End. If you’ve been meaning to see the full theatrical spectacle, this is your last chance before a reimagined one-part version arrives in October. Ends 20 September.

LONDON FASHION WEEK | Various locations
Five days of British fashion at full volume, with established names, emerging talent, catwalks, presentations and a growing number of public-facing events across the city. This September’s schedule runs from Thursday through Monday, bringing the usual creative energy with it. Ends 21 September.
OPEN HOUSE FESTIVAL | Various locations
One of the best ways to see a side of London that usually stays behind closed doors. Buildings and spaces across all 33 boroughs open to the public for free, from private homes to historic landmarks and pieces of standout contemporary architecture. Ends 20 September.
LONDON DESIGN FESTIVAL | Various locations
For nine days, London becomes one giant design showcase, with installations, exhibitions, talks and new commissions appearing across the city. This year’s programme stretches across eleven Design Districts, including Soho, Shoreditch, Mayfair and Brompton. Ends 20 September.
MUSIC
SOHO JAZZ FESTIVAL | Various venues, Soho
Jazz spills out across Soho for four days this September, with ten stages taking over some of the neighbourhood’s best-known clubs, bars and unexpected spaces. A particularly good excuse to stay close to home. Ends 19 September.
JAZZ ON WICK | Hackney Wick
A one-day, day-to-night celebration of jazz and the scenes growing around it, with a line-up spanning jazz, grime, neo-soul and more across Hackney Wick. D Double E, Ego Ella May, Tara Lily and Jas Kayser are among the names on this year’s bill. 5 September only.
BBC PROMS | Royal Albert Hall
One of London’s great summer traditions reaches its finale in September, with the last concerts of the season building towards the unmistakable atmosphere of the Last Night of the Proms. Classical music, British tradition and one very lively Royal Albert Hall. Ends 12 September.
